The development of the Rivierenwijk district in Deventer is in full swing. For several years now, the city of Deventer and housing corporation Rentree have been working to revitalise the area. This is a long process, requiring patience and perseverance by all parties involved, not least the district’s residents. To improve the area already from the outset, a number of clear-cut subprojects have been identified by the city. One of these is the project Venenplantsoen.

Subtle interventions transform the existing public garden into a fully-fledged park. The park attains structure and unity by a tapestry of lawns, with threes and romantic paths. Within this larger structure, the big pond and the Cruijff Court are preserved. Elements such as an adventurous hilly playground for children, outdoor fitness equipment, a scent garden, a duck’s island and a swampy area with a wooden walkway are welcome extras.
